Last Dance
Please don't be here I don't want to remember
Standing in the shadows and the rain of October

As the moon cuts your face through the pane of a window
and silhouette tears from the rain on the glass flow

You lift up your head and open your eyes
and the cold of your silence felt as my heart dies

You look at me soft and you look at me lonely
I know you're not there as I reach to you slowly

The kisses we shared, the stares and the nights
our fingers were eyes when we hated the lights

But time's now a treachery with memories of you
as my eyes begin trembling and my finger pass through

The fading shadow before me of the one lost in the whirl
taken from me a woman but still you were only a girl
This poem was inspired by, and sort of written to, the song, "Last Dance", by The Cure.
