The Road Thought Not Taken
You told me there was a time you slept alone in shadows
there was a time you walked only in moonlight
and on the road you thought that no one follows
until you saw me on that road one night

There was a time when dawn meant I'd meet my pillow
there was a time night was my only friend
then down the road I paved with all my sorrow
came a figure from the other end

You were snow soft in black surprise
so slow lost behind your eyes

You said
"there was a time alone in shadow
moonlight was my pillow
under a blanket of my sorrow
I listened to the rain
It told me you could never leave the pain
Someone has to come to take it all away"

I said
"raindrops are water to mortal eyes
but words of comfort to tragic sighs
and when they speak their words are wise"

So we listen to the rain
We hear faint memories of a lost pain
Obvious thanx to Robert Frost, and another thanx to Robert Smith.
