The new season for TV has started.  I watched the first episode of Bionic Woman.  I like it, though something happened in it that is similar to things I've seen before, in other shows and movies.

So, she and her boyfriend are in a car accident, and she loses both legs, one arm, an eye and an ear.  They replace each with bionic ones.  She wakes up.  She can't feel her legs, and he's explaining that she lost them in the accident and that they were replaced.

She throws off the covers and sees her legs, and granted there's some visual weirdness, but she freaks out and asks, "What did you do to me?"

Now, I really don't know how accurate to real life this reaction may be, but such things irritate me.  What did he do to you?  HE GAVE YOU YOUR FUCKING LIMBS BACK!  He kept you from being a teraplegic, ungrateful bitch.  Oh, and by the way, your new limbs work significantly better than the ones that were SEVERED FROM YOUR DAMN BODY.

But like I said, it's things like that which bug me.  Like if someone develops some really cool superpower and call it a curse.  You get some ability that you can control and that makes no change to your outward appearance, then I don't want to hear any bitching.

Develop chronic quarter-sized zits, and then you can talk to me about curses.

I watched the movie, Accepted, today.  It was better than I thought, although there were some things I felt were left out.  One being, when the main character was making his case for the college getting accredited, he said nothing about the fact that the students were rejected by every other college they applied to.  That was disappointing.

Also, none of the students offered any ways they had learned things.  I just think that more could have been done.  Sometimes I really despise efforts to keep a movie at a certain length limit.  This movie had so much room for cool things: so much untapped potential.

On a more positive note, there's the actress, Maria Thayer, who played Rory.

Some may know that I'm rather adverse to red-heads, but this does not mean that I find all red-heads unattractive, automatically.  What it does mean is that if there's one I do find attractive, then she's pretty darn exceptional.

The thing about red-heads is that they tend to bear combinations of physical traits that I find generally unattractive.  Red hair, super pasty white skin, freckles (red to boot).

Still, even traits that I generally do not like can become appealing, depending on the rest of the package.  Well, I must say that Maria Thayer is quite nicely packaged, in as far as I can tell.  I'd like to know a lot more about her, but there's not much available.

One thing that surprised me was that she was born the same year as I.  I figured she was in her early twenties.  She's around 7 months younger, born in October.  I'd like to know more about her personality.

Hate crimes are such terrible things.  If you're going to bludgeon someone to death, don't do it out of hate.  That's just wrong.

If you're going to tie someone up with a change, and drag them along a dirt road for miles, there's no need to do it because of race.  That's just wrong.

If you shove a foot-long knife up someone's anus, please don't let gender or sexual orientation be your motivation.  That's just wrong.

When you commit crimes out of hate, you miss out on the simple joys of bulging eyes and squirting blood.  How can you fully appreciate the purity of a scream if you have hate in your heart?  If you rape a woman out of hate, then you're not thinking of HER pleasure, and that's just being a selfish rapist.

Remember folks:  You can be a mass-decapitator without being a hater.  Hate crimes are just wrong.

The show: Numb3rs.  The actress: Navi Rawat.  The sitch: She put on some weight.  The conclusion:  Still hot.

My niece and her boyfriend and their daughter have been in the process of moving out to their new house.  Today, I've begun the process of making the bathroom my own.

I've used that particular bathroom more years than any one whose ever lived in this house, and yet it's never really been "mine".  It's just the natural state of things that if there's a female living in a house, she will own the bathroom, so I suppose I'm not too surprised.

I've never, in all my years of living here, had more than a drawer and a shelf, and more recently a hanging basket that I've kept my portable cd player, mp3 player, and speakers in.  Although I have had a radio on the counter, off to the side.

On a job, I was twice stung by a wasp or possibly a hornet.  One near my elbow, and one on the side of my head.  I'm listening to a movie with Irish accents, and I'm fighting the urge to write "me" in place of "my".

I may be doing some renovating on the bathroom.  At the very least, the sink will be replaced.

Watched a movie on Sci-Fi called Alien Siege.  Summary:  Alien race is being killed by a disease, and they demand the blood of 8 million human to cure it or Earth gets all blowed up.  Earth fights a little but eventually agrees.  A lottery is held and the chosen ones are rounded up.  Before they're all got, rebels blow them up first.  Yadda yadda.  It's slightly more complex, but it wasn't that good a movie, so who gives a crap.

On to the point of bringing it up.  Here's my rewrite:  Aliens demand 8 million humans or the Earth gets all blowed up.  We don't fight, because war is so uncool.  Nor do we hold a lottery.  What we do, instead, is designate 8 million Liberals as ambassadors to negotiate with them.

Responsibility.  Response-ability.  The ability to respond.  To be able to respond.

How did we get to a point where responsibility is an abstract thing?

If I can respond and if I should respond are two completely different things.  The evolution of language is interesting.

Well, my niece and her boyfriend are pretty much moved into their house, and now they're coming to take their satellite, but here's the part that really sucks....

First we had Direct TV, but he and they had a dispute, so we switched to Dish Network.  When he signed up for Direct TV, he used the house's phone number, which is what is used to reference all accounts.

Since they have a dispute, they're withholding service until it's settled, but since calling Direct TV starts you off with an automated service, once I give the phone number, you get no other options that would allow me to talk to a person, so I could not set up a new account to get us set back up with Direct TV.

I didn't think of it until now, but I may be able to temporarily set it up on a cell number.  I don't know.  I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Just another reason I prefer to keep my personal dealings with other people to a minimum.  Especially people who are not well-known for reliability or for being a bright bulb.

Okay, I talked to someone at Direct TV who said they believed the boyfriend could call and have the account transferred to his cell number.  I wished I'd thought of this sooner; preferably earlier this week, but I would have settled for earlier today.  The person who would be setting up the account is in bed for the night.

I was originally hoping I could get the Direct TV back the same day as the Dish Network was leaving, but unless they can do same day service on Saturday, I'm screwed.  Although, all the hardware is still here, so unless there's something that an official would have to do, it might be just a matter of account/service activation.  Maybe I can call tomorrow and see how that stands.

Intend to go to Lowe's tomorrow to see what's available for bathroom renovating.  I checked out their website for some things.  What I want is a bigger sink with a "bar" faucet, which is a high arching one, like at hospitals.  I want to be able to easily put my head under it.

The one I have now, I can get my head under it, but not exactly easily.  What I really hate are those faucets so small that you have to knock your knuckles on the back of the basin just to wash your hands.  I'd like to talk to whoever came up with that design and ask them what the heck they were thinking.

So anyway, I'm currently thinking of getting a single-basin kitchen sink.  That way, in addition to the things I want standard, I can also have the sprayer.  Here's the sink and faucet I have my eye on, right now.  I'd prefer a larger and deeper basin, but I'm not made of money.  Ideally, the faucet would be flexible, but hey.

I'm toying with the idea of replacing the floor and walls, but since I can't have it totally as I would prefer, I'm having aesthetic difficulties; how to paint and decorate it, or just what panels to get.  I'm holding off until I can see what's available at Lowes or locally.

Right now, the bathroom has a three door cabinet/counter with the sink in the center.  As much as I prefer to have counter space attached on either side of the sink, for the sake of redoing the walls and floor, I'm leaning towards getting rid of the cabinets and counter.

I'm thinking of making some kind of frame, for the sink, that will easily attach to, and detach from, the wall, and them just getting a couple of end table type cabinets that I can just pick up and move.  We'll see how think go.

Satellite update.  Since Dish Network is cheaper and more reliable, we've decided to just stay with them.  I'm not quite sure what I'll have to do.  The boyfriend took the DVRs but the dish is still here, and the service is still active.  Not sure if he'll be taking that later or not.

I'm curious about the science of color.  I know that we see color because of frequencies of light waves reflecting off of a surface, but what exactly is it that determines what frequency is reflected or absorbed?

Is it molecular?  Atomic?  Consider simple paint:  You have two samples of the same kind of paint, with the only noticeable difference being the color.  One sample is red and the other sample is blue.  What is the physical difference between the two samples beyond what is seen with the eye?  What really happens when you mix those two colors together?

And then there's the whole primary color issue.  What is it about those colors that makes them pure beyond the fact that they are not made by mixing two or more other colors.
