More Renovation

Saturday, February 2, 2008

I was finally able to get some more done on the bathroom.  All of the vinyl floor covering is down, all of the ceiling is up, and all of the south wall is... to the side?

The south wall going on means the tub is finally in place.  The north wall should be next.  That's the wall with the door.  Less wood, but more cutting.  More complication.  May or may not do more tomorrow.

  My legs are sore.

I wonder if creativity is what allows boredom to exist.

Happy Chinese New Year.  It is the year of the Rat.  Congratulations to all you Rats out there.  I guess.

What a day it's been.  It's been quite a week, actually, but today has been the most hectic (knock on wood for tomorrow).  We got an early lockout call, so not only did I have to get up early, I did not get a shower, and breakfast was postponed.

One of the jobs we have is to install an automatic locking lock on the door of the compactor at the local Wal-Mart.  Fortunately time is not of the essence.  We got the lock yesterday, and we were going to install it today, but there was problem with spacing, so we're going to try again, tomorrow, when we have the theoretically correct supplies.

I had to crawl inside the compactor, and not that crawling inside was really making a difference, but the smell coming from it was an aromatic assault.

  It wasn't a turn your-head-and-cringe stink.  It was more a my-throat-is-beginning-to-hurt-a-little-and-I'm-starting-to-feel-nausious stink.

So, the Mitt dropped out.  The candidates seem to be dropping out in the order of how good they are, or at least very close to it.  If this holds true, then McCain will end up as the "Republican" candidate.

I have a feeling Obama will end up being the Socialist- I mean Democrat of choice.  But whether it's him or Hil-Loki against McCain, it's still a matter of which Liberal you can most tolerate as President.

Part of me says go ahead and go for rock-bottom with Hil-Loki, so the country can suffer enough to truly see how dumbass Liberalism is.  The national debt can skyrocket and people can lose more of their paychecks than they thought they ever would.

If she does everything to businesses that she's promised, then the people who work there and the people who buy their goods and services can suffer the inevitable compensation the businesses will have to make in order to not fail.

Rock-bottom is not necessarily a bad thing, in the long run, as long as you're still able to raise yourself up from it.  That's the only concern I have about it: will we be able to recover.

Of course, all this is contingent upon her actually going through with her "plans" (same for pretty much all of them).  It's not like the Liberals are popular for follow-through.  Seriously, why do people keep putting their faith in Liberal politicians?

It's virtually impossible to predict what McCain would do.  What he says he's going to do and the majority of his past actions are in conflict, so he's either genuinely changing for the better or... well... insert anything, because I really don't think he's changing for the better.

Huckabee is only somewhat better than McCain.  It's like, do you want me to wear a boot or a tennis shoe when I kick you in the balls?

Hil-Loki or Obama?  We're going drive straight off that cliff, so would you rather a stunt driver take the wheel or someone who's still learning?

I don't know if I'm going to even bother voting this year.

I don't remember if it was the Aztecs or Mayans, or who, but part of a documentary mentioned that their calendar went only to our 2012, and that something was supposed to happen to change the world as we know it.

I found it an interesting coincidence that that is the next U.S. election year, and that this year we have a handfull of candidates promising to thoroughly fuck things up with Liberal policies in their initial term.  It just screams rock-bottom then epiphany to me.  I'm curious to see how things turn out.

Of course, it could just as easily mean America was rendered inconsequential or null.  Will we suddenly find ourselves in Mexamericanada?  Or my personal favorite, Canamerico.  We'll all use the North American Dollar, and we'll still be concerned with the government having us by our nads.

Maybe the U.N. will finally take on its desired role as God, and we'll all start worshiping it... more.

By the way, psychic Sandra Brown predicted that aliens (the outer space kind) would officially make themselves known to humanity in 2010.  We'll see how that turns out, too.

I just watched this week's Smash Lab.  They worked on earthquake proofing a house.  It was actually a good episode.  No one did anything significantly dumbass.  There was one incident, but nothing bad came of it.  I didn't predict it, but I don't know it that's because I'm so tired, or if I just "knew" nothing bad would come of it.

The girl actually came closer to earning her "scientist" label.  She, in her own words, "geeked out" with some math which turned me on a little bit as well as produced excellent results.  Good episode.

I had an opportunity to listen to a little NPR, and by "little", I mean about 5 minutes.  That is to say, I could have listened to more, but it bored the hell out of me, so I flipped through some other stations until something remotely interesting did come on NPR, which was a news break.

In case anyone doesn't know, NPR is National Public Radio, a.k.a. Liberal talk radio.

The reason I'm talking about any of this is because of something they felt was actually newsworthy.  Basically, they said that the race ratios (my words) of the people in New Orleans has changed since hurricane Katrina, and that it might effect the election: it'll be different from what it usually has been.

Once again, race being dragged kicking and screaming into the spotlight.  What I'd like to know is the Liberal to Conservative ratio of all the people who give a flying fuck about how the race ratio has changed in New Orleans since the hurricane.  I know I don't give a flying fuck.  Do you give a flying fuck?  Please tell me how that information is important to anyone who isn't being racist?

It's been quite a day.  We finished the work on that compactor.  It didn't go smoothly, at all, but the results were good.  I have a headache having not eaten for so long, and my throat still has a tickle left over from the fumes in the compactor.  They had me coughing a little like I was sick by the time we got finished, but I'm better now.

There's currently nothing scheduled for tomorrow, and I hope it stays that way at least until 2pm or later.  I want to sleep.

I had a pretty darn cool dream, last night.  It's not too unusual for me to dream a movie, and I don't mean an existing movie, necessarily.  Sometimes my mind will fabricate a memory, making it feel like the movie I'm dreaming is a variation on something I've watched.  That sucks when the non-existent movie is a really good one.

The short summary of this one is that a high school has an underground (literally and metaphorically) organization of some students and teachers training at sporting events and competitive activities engaged in by the students who do them better.  The hope is to get good enough to compete with them.  It's primarily nerds and geeks.

There was a lot more going on that was not directly related to that, but that was the main premise.  The deja vu part was because what I was seeing was like an uncensored version.  Some things were happening differently.  Parts of it were hilarious.  Wish it had been a real movie.
