Principle Of Love
I never knew that
all I had to do was touch
your hand
was all you ever really
needed to stop me
where I stand
in front of you
I look inside
your eyes and see the truth
that tells me that
I never needed fear
that you might be denied
you knew that it was there
when I hadn't even tried
but I wanted to
all the things I could have given you
but you say you don't mind
that you always know
that it's always there
to find you always found enough
to smile
enough to look happy
for a while
I overlooked while passing by
and now
it makes me want to cry
to know that
you were never sad
cause all you ever wanted had
been given to you patiently
you never asked for more
than what I'd ever given you before
you pull my head to you
and kiss my cheek
you whisper there
is nothing else you ever seek
that I hear you speak
is high above
on my principles of love
This poem is meant to be read as a single run-on sentence.
Every two consecutive lines make sense with each other as the poem progresses.
1&2 2&3 3&4 and so on. At least that's the regular pattern.
There are certain connecting lines, but they are not in any regular pattern

This poem was inspired by the song, "A Letter To Elise", by The Cure.
