Wrapped Around Your Finger
When you didn't turn
I thought that I would burn
I thought that I would fade

My heart was falling sand
As empty as my hand
You were tearing me apart

You were leaving everything
I knew you were never true
For you I'd never do

So why did you keep holding my hand
And always by me stand
Why were you lying all the time

Was it just a game to you

But I admit something

I'm still in love with you
And it will always linger
You had me wrapped around your finger

I thought the world of you
But everything went wrong
Your heart was wrong
My hope went wrong

Then you walked away from me
You never turned to see
My hand reaching out to you
Cry was all that I could do

The game was fun no more
You didn't want me anymore

But I admit something

I'm still in love with you
And will always linger
You had me wrapped around your finger
You could see, but you left me wrapped around your finger.
This poem was inspired by, and sort of written to, the song, "Linger", by The Cranberries.

It started out being written very nearly exactly to it, but it changed a little halfway through.
I don't really like this poem anymore.
