Of Tears And Claws
Through pain and lies
and broken ties
When loves were ripped
from before your eyes

While friends held dear
were always near
Though you tried
to hide the fear

Still they saw
by nature's law
Reaction to
the pains that gnaw

You survive
remain alive
With those who love
and with you strive

For good to keep
and as you sleep
Within your mind
tears do weep

Never falter
never shake
It is always better
when you wake
This poem was inspired by a particular frame in an issue of the comic book, The Uncanny X-Men (either Uncanny or just plain X-Men).

Here's the basic story.
Wolverine is a character whose skeleton was laced (against his will) with adamantium, the hardest known metal.
Magneto is a villian with the ability to control megnetic fields.
During a battle with the X-Men, Magneto pulled the adamantium right out of Wolverine's body (leaving the skeleton, of course).
The only reason this did not kill Wolverine is because he also has increased healing abilities.
Wolverine also has retractable claws that extend from his knuckles.
He had always thought they were a part of the adamantium "implant", but after the battle,
he discovered the claws were only laced bone, and that he had been born with them.

The frame I mentioned was of a bandaged Wolverine sitting outside under a tree, and he had just spoken to a young friend.
He had one set of claws extended, and there was a butterfly either sitting on one of the points, or flying near one.
I don't recall exactly, and my comics are packed away, so finding out for you would be quite inconvenient.
