News To Smile At | |||
I just heard some news that brought joy to my heart, which is especially nice, because I have a bit of a cold. "Boston University's Republican students group has started a scholarship for white students..." You can read the entire article at the link, but I heard it on tv, and hearing only as much as 'scholarship for whites' was all I really needed the get that joy brewing. My thought? YES!!! Some people are finally doing something significant and bold to stand up against hypocritical racism. The real interesting thing is that other Republicans are the majority source of the flack they're catching. Or should I say, the dick Republicans are getting nagged by the pussy Republicans. Anyway, I think it's awesome, and more power to them. Hopefully they will inspire other people to take actions. With any luck, activism will no longer be the exclusive domain of people for whom logic and common sense are foreign concepts. Throw in some people who actually think with their brain instead of their emotions. The project, or whatever, is obviously done with a sense of humor, given that it's for only $250, which is also a refreshing change... the sense of humor, I mean. I guess when you think logically, you have the luxury of feeling something other thatn constant outrage, since outrage is the only fuel the non-thinking activist have keeping them going. Reminds me of that saying, "If you're not outraged, then you're not paying attention". If you're not outraged, then there's a chance that you're actually using your brain to actively solve the problem instead of just bitching about it all the time. Of course, to the common activist, bitching IS their idea of taking action, so I suppose they would not understand.
The other opposition is from some members of the minorities, who apparently are comfortable in their role as victims. "But we spent how many years being held back, and now we are trying to catch up. It's a slap in the face." Interestingly enough, this was said by a minority student who attended college without a scholarship. It's not a slap in the face to be told, you're equal, but not really? Liberal policy is slapping minorities in the face left and right. It's the complete opposite of what Martin Luther King Jr. died trying to bring to the world. You're slapping him in the face. |
