Random Stuff 09

Well, Monday, the 15th, was the first "official" freeze for my town.  Granted, some of our metal gate did have a coat of ice on the top for a couple of days before, but Monday had actual frost.

Some of the trees' limbs were completely coated in a decent layer of ice, and when the wind blew them, they creaked and sounded like sleet, thought the ice stayed on.  On the highway, the icicles on the road signs were angled because of the wind.  That was an interesting sight.

Hopefully, the global climate change (wrongly called global "warming") will bring snow back to town.  It hasn't snowed here in years, and the last time it did, it was negligible.  The last time it really snowed was over 20 years ago.

Anyway, though I do feel sorry for the outdoor animals, I like when the trees have layers of ice, and the ditches full of water are iced over.  The ditch is not completely iced over, but still.  A bonus is all the mosquitoes and roaches that won't survive, though mosquitoes more so than roaches, probably.

What I don't like is the fact that the nature of my job often places me outside doing things that require bare hands... handling metal.  Definitely a downside to the icy weather.

I'm buying a new external hard drive.  It's a Western Digital My Book Essential WDG1U2500N 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - Retail for $83.99.  An excellent price.  $91.60 after shipping.  Still an excellent price.

Years ago, my best friend once said to me, "...family-size tequila".

I bought some un-flavored gelatin and made some Pepsi "Jell-0".  I dissolved the gelatin in a little bit of hot water, then mixed in the Pepsi.  Unfortunately, some of the jelly stayed in the bottom of the bowl, so not all of it made it into the main mixture, and it showed.  The final product was not a solid as I'd wanted.

That aside, the result tasted really weak, and not really like Pepsi.  I may try again, but I'll boil some Pepsi to dissolve the gelatin.  Hopefully, it will help enrich the flavor.

Things are pretty boring when I'm busy.  Boring when it comes to blogging, at least.  Otherwise, I don't have time to be boring....  I mean bored.  Obviously I have ample time to be boring.  Well, maybe not ample.  I think the word "enough" would be more accurate.  I have enough time to be boring... every once in a while... in blog form.

If you don't believe me, I can prove it... some more.  Actually, I have interesting thoughts throughout the day, it's just that by the time I get the chance to write anything, I've either forgotten them or just lost enough interest for it to not be worth the effort.  Usually a combination of both.

Gotta give more props to the comedy, The Class.  It's rare that a sitcom can make me laugh out loud, or at the very least, have me remember doing it.  Great show.

I'm adding Lizzy Caplan to the list of "Who I'd like to meet".  I almost want to add Andrea Anders as well, but not quite.  There's something I find physically, subtly attractive about her.  Did in Joey, and do in The Class.  But there's something especially attractive about a chick who can really pull off saying "crap".

It's hard to explain.  It's not in saying it casually or passively.  It's when it's an exclamation or part of an exclamatory sentence.  "Crap!"  "Oh, crap!" or the calmer and more accepting version, "Oh, crap."  "What the crap!"

Andrea Anders and Holly Marie Combs, of Charmed, are the only two memorable examples I can give.

  I'm getting tired.
