Unconscious Philippine Woman
Friday, April 4, 2003

It started with me, in an entirely fictional situation.  A woman, who was supposed to be a former school teacher, to my dream-self, was giving me a list of things to buy for her from a grocery store.  She was naming things, and descriptions where needed, and I was writing them down.  It was a short list, but I kept having a lot of trouble remembering what she said, between her telling and me starting to write.  Plus, I had trouble writing correctly.

After I finished terribly writing the list, she sent me back in time about one year, and to what seemed to be a different city.  For some reason, my mother was suddenly with me, and we were going to a big mall that happened to have a grocery store inside.

We sort of went shopping, but there was one item that I had forgotten what was, and all I had was a partial description.  At the checkout counter, I explained the situation to the cashier, and then gave her the description, and she knew exactly what I was talking about, but she told me that they had run out of it.  It was a little bottle of some kind of cooking sauce.

My mother and I left the store, and because we left a different way than we entered, we ended up on some other side of the mall, and we did not know where we had parked.

Now, that's how it seems to have gone, up to that point, but there is some inconstancy in my memory of it.  According to the second part of the dream, before my mother and I went to the store, I checked into a hotel (not a motel).

Somewhere, and I really don't recall where or how, I found a nude, half conscious young woman.  I am not sure if I found her outside the mall or outside the hotel, but it seems more like it was outside the hotel.  She was able to stand and walk, but her eyes were closed, and she was oblivious to her environment, except that she seemed to gravitate towards me.

Incidentally, the young woman appeared to be in her twenties.  She was about 4' 6", had long hair that was a little scraggly from it not being taken care of, and she appeared to be Philippine, though only by a process of elimination.  She was also somewhat roughly attractive, not glamorous, but not ugly.  The most interesting thing, to me (my real self) was that she had a tattoo on her left shoulder.

It's interesting, because I don't recall ever dreaming a female having a tattoo before.  The tattoo was one of those "tribal" ones that are pretty much just stylized lines and sharp shapes, and hers went from the front of her shoulder around to the back.

I was not with my mother for the hotel scenario.  I somehow checked in and got her to my room without anyone really noticing her.  I put her in one of the beds, and then I did something else.  That was glossed over, and then I went to sleep on the other side of the same bed.

The dream went instantly to me waking up.  The woman was awake, and, it would seem, had taken a shower, because she was wearing a towel around her body.  She was acting like nothing unusual was going on, though she did not speak to me.  It seemed as if perhaps she had some condition that ended her up in situations like this a lot, so she was used to it.

It was time for me to leave, to go to the store with my mother, so something automatic took over for a moment.  The woman stood next to me, and slightly behind.  We both put our arms straight out to the sides.  Suddenly, we both became translucent, and then phased into each other, like a double image converging into a single one, except that at the end, I was the same person.

I left and then the store part of the dream happened.  We got back to the hotel, and both my mother and father were with me.  The hotel room was more like two connected rooms, with one smaller than the other.  The secondary room had two beds, and its own bathroom, but I never actually saw any of the main room, except for what was seen through the doorway from the secondary room.

Upon entering the lobby doors of the hotel, the woman suddenly fell out of me and collapsed, unconscious, onto the floor, wearing the bath towel.  At that point, my parents were both physically behind me, as well as not of too much consequence.  I was going to take care of the situation myself.

I picked up the woman, and she was surprisingly light.  One thing to know is that pretty much any female gets mentally assessed, by me, for mate potential.  It's just what I do.  I'm not a terribly physically strong person, in real life, so it meant something that I was able to carry her with ease.  The only thing about her that notably turned me off was that she had a tattoo.

But anyway, I carried her to the front desk, because, for some reason, all guests were escorted to their rooms every time they came back, but there was a different clerk behind the desk.

She was a woman, about early 50's, and in good shape, but the shape of her face made her look perpetually unpleasant, and her attitude was not far off.  Her initial reaction, though unspoken, was that I was bringing a hooker to my room, and she was rather personally appalled, and she guided us around a sort of back way, to a service elevator of sorts, to reduce the chances of any other people seeing us.

Back in the room, my parents stayed in the main room (they were suddenly checked in guests as well), and I went to the secondary room to put the woman back on the bed.  Because I was carrying her completely, and because of some weird dream physics, the full process of laying her down properly ended with me straddling over her and holding her against me until she was completely on the bed.

That very last moment triggered a reaction in her, and she started struggling and talking (not quite yelling) in another language.  I suspected that she had been in at least one situation where someone had tried to force himself upon her.  I got up from her as quickly as I was able, and then she was quiet and still again.

The towel that she was wearing was moist, so I wanted to get it off of her for health reasons (honest).  Around that point, I began to wake up.  Although I did not wake up completely, quite yet, I was still awake enough to make it not fully a dream.

Samm J. Bogner

I kept having a lot of trouble remembering what she said, between her telling and me starting to write.  Plus, I had trouble writing correctly.

This suggests to me your study of the Japanese language.  The quotation above can be taken quite literally in that regard.

...we did not know where we had parked.

This would be another reference to your confusion with the language.

...I found a nude, half conscious young woman.

This suggests that you tend to be a little embarassed about the language barrier.

The tattoo was one of those "tribal" ones...

This is another reference to the characters--a suggestion, inclusive of the attractiveness of the young woman, that you find the written language appealing.

She was acting like nothing unusual was going on, though she did not speak to me.  It seemed as if perhaps she had some condition that ended her up in situations like this a lot, so she was used to it.

This suggests your perception of the attitude of Oriental women, such that they are accustomed to foreign men having difficulty with their language.

The woman stood next to me, and slightly behind.  We both put our arms straight out to the sides.  Suddenly, we both became translucent, and then phased into each other, like a double image converging into a single one, except that at the end, I was the same person.

Language, being a "feminine" trait, is here personified, and you come to the realization that your learning the language, "converging with it," does not change the person that you are.

Upon entering the lobby doors of the hotel, the woman suddenly fell out of me and collapsed, unconscious, onto the floor, wearing the bath towel.  At that point, my parents were both physically behind me, as well as not of too much consequence.  I was going to take care of the situation myself.

Here we encounter a conflict--that perhaps your parents are not accepting of your interest in Oriental women.  In some way, your subconscious is expressing your concern and possible embarassment about this.

Her initial reaction, though unspoken, was that I was bringing a hooker to my room, and she was rather personally appalled, and she guided us around a sort of back way, to a service elevator of sorts, to reduce the chances of any other people seeing us.

Yet another statement of your concern about being in an embarassing situation.

Because I was carrying her completely, and because of some weird dream physics, the full process of laying her down properly ended with me straddling over her and holding her against me until she was completely on the bed.

Here the conscious wish emerges, that you find Oriental women appealing.

...she started struggling and talking (not quite yelling) in another language.

A little self-doubt creeps back in here, about the concern of language as a barrier.

I got up from her as quickly as I was able, and then she was quiet and still again.

And yet another embarassing situation--followed by relief (due to her being quiet).

The towel that she was wearing was moist, so I wanted to get it off of her for health reasons (honest).

Here you are moving from one place in the mind to another, possibly "uncharted" territory.

The towel in this scenario refers to the barrier between yourself and your desires: particularly the language and secondly the possibility of a relationship.  That it appears to be moist, indicates your feeling of readiness to, pardon the expression, tackle, the experience, though you again, counter your wish with concern about health.

So, in general, this dream refers to your feeling of incompetence with regard to the language and your concern that others, family and friends, may not approve of your desire for a relationship with someone of a different heritage.
